How to Make a DIY Mimosa Bar

How to Make a DIY Mimosa Bar

If you’re getting your friends together for brunch, you may want to provide a fantastic build-your-own mimosa bar. Read all our tips for how to make it truly special.

To put it simply, brunch is the best. And it’s even better when there’s an interactive activity for you and your guests. Of course you should provide OJ and champagne, but you can also elevate your mimosa recipes by adding vodka, miscellaneous juices and lots of garnishes. Here’s what you need to make it a hit.

A bottle of Grey Goose Vodka and summer vodka cocktails made with champagne and fresh garnishes.

The Best Alcohol for a Mimosa Bar

First things first: start with the alcohol. Mimosas are synonymous with sparkling wine, namely prosecco or cava. Sure, you could go with champagne, but since you’ll be mixing with other juices, it may not be worth the price tag.

But you can also add more variety to your mimosa bar by including other alcohol. GREY GOOSE® Vodka is a great addition that will mix well with all other ingredients.

The Best Juices for a Mimosa Bar

No brunch is complete without juice, and you’ll definitely want to provide an ample amount for your mimosa bar. Offering a spread of different mimosa bar juices means everyone can find something to suit their taste. Orange juice is the classic, but cranberry juice is also used for a popular non-OJ mimosa. You can also offer grapefruit or pineapple juice for other crowd-pleasing options. Or go even a little farther off the beaten path with mango or watermelon juice, or strawberry or peach pureé. The best juice for a mimosa bar is the one that’s your favorite.

The Best Garnishes for a Mimosa Bar

Garnishes are a fun and flavourful addition. You’ll want to offer a lot of fresh fruit, like orange slices and strawberries. Small berries help enhance the effervescence of the bubbly drink, so don’t forget blueberries and raspberries. And then add some more unexpected garnishes, like pomegranate seeds, kiwi slices and fresh herbs such as mint and basil. It can be a nice touch to coordinate your garnishes with your mimosa bar juices, such as offering pineapple wedges and pineapple juice.

Putting It All Together

Presentation is half the fun. Make sure you have a large table where people can get in line to make their drinks. Champagne flutes are a must. Keep the champagne and Grey Goose on ice — like in ice buckets — for a beautiful and functional way to keep the drinks tasting their best. Throw in some tall glass carafes that are perfect for the juices, and put the garnishes in small bowls with their own serving spoons. If you really want to go the extra mile, print out some small placards that identify each of the ingredients, as well as any instructions for mixing.

Alternative Brunch Cocktails

Mimosas aren’t the only things worth mixing up. Your guests can forego the champagne and simply mix orange juice and vodka for a classic Screwdriver cocktail. Check out all our brunch cocktails for even more ideas.

And voila, there you have it. A DIY mimosa bar will be a big hit at your next brunch. And if you’re more interested in something savoury, check out how to build your own bloody mary bar.
