Best Vodka Cocktails: The Top 6 Most Popular Drinks

Best Vodka Cocktails: The Top 6 Most Popular Drinks

Vodka is one of the most, if not the most, popular spirits in the world. And it’s used to make quite a few well-known and beloved drinks. See what we consider the top six most popular vodka cocktails.

Mar. 21, 2025

The history of vodka includes many storied cocktails. Vodka, also known as the “conception spirit” due to its foundational properties, is a wonderful base for drink recipes, which may be why so many popular cocktails include vodka. Its versatility leads to a wonderful variety, including these six popular vodka mixed drinks.

6. The Lemon Drop

The Lemon Drop is a sweet and sour cocktail that tantalizes the taste buds, often served in a martini cocktail glass. Our version of this classic cocktail is made with GREY GOOSE® Le Citron Flavoured Vodka, lemon, sugar, Triple Sec and simple syrup.

5. The Cosmopolitan

The Cosmopolitan was a big hit with four famous TV friends before the turn of the new millennium — soon it became a big hit with everyone else. While the cosmo was especially popular decades ago, it has recently experienced a comeback, like many other things born in the ‘90s. Sometimes mistakenly called a martini cocktail, the fruity cranberry, orange and lime flavours make it a retro palate pleaser.

4. The Moscow Mule

The Moscow Mule has been popular since its creation in 1941 — it even has its own national day. It’s iconic both for its spicy ginger flavour and its traditional copper mug that gives it a distinctive look.

3. The Espresso Martini Cocktail

Another drink that peaked in the ‘90s but has come back in a big way is the Espresso Martini Cocktail. The coffee-based drink has many different iterations. While the name is common, it’s not technically a true martini cocktail because it lacks the two prerequisite ingredients, as you’ll see in the next drink.

2. The Vodka Martini Cocktail

Arguably the most iconic cocktail, vodka or otherwise, the Martini Cocktail has been lauded by everyone from silver screen spies to simple serve seekers. The history of the martini cocktail is rich and still evolving.

A vodka martini cocktail has a complex flavour profile but is surprisingly simple to make. While there are many variations, you really only need two ingredients: vodka and vermouth, a fortified wine. Get our tips on how you can enjoy it at a bar, at home and on National Martini Cocktail Day.

1. Vodka and Soda

The Vodka and Soda cocktail is forever a classic. It’s super simple to make and a nice option for a lower-calorie cocktail. But just because it’s simple doesn’t mean it’s basic. If you make a vodka soda with the nuanced taste of Grey Goose, it’s anything but boring. The full taste and aroma of our vodka is able to shine through when mixed with fizzy club soda.

So there you have it. Enjoy ordering or mixing up these six most popular cocktails if you haven’t already, or explore all our recipes and create your own top 6 list. After all, it’s your personal taste that truly matters.

What is the most popular vodka drink?

Voilà — in our opinion, the most popular vodka drink is a vodka soda. Simple to order, available everywhere and, if you order a premium vodka, delicious. It’s also an easy drink to dress up with a variety of garnishes.

What is the most popular vodka mixer?

Because the most popular vodka drink is a vodka soda, it follows that the most common mixer is soda water.
